OUR STORY

We are Scot and Tiffany Thomas, and when we are not lucky enough to be visiting one of our properties, we live just outside Chicago. We are here to help you have great vacations with our personal knowledge of each property listed on our site. Many of the properties are owned by us, the others are owned by close friends of ours. We want you to join our "circle of friends" and enjoy these special properties as much as we have.

Specialty Vacations grew out of a group of friends and family and our love for travel. In 1997, Scot bought a beautiful sailing vessel and kept it in charter in the Virgin Islands when he was not using it. Many years of sailing in the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean, he fell in love with the area, and with the island of St. John in particular.

Finally, in 2002, we bought a lovely villa on the island - Vida de Mar. Over the years, we invited many friends and family down to the island to visit, any many of them reciprocated with their wonderful properties and vacation locations all over the world. After awhile, we found that we were playing "travel agent" to many of our friends, recommending one vacation to a friend, and then another to a family member, and so on. We realized that we had begun a small network of personal vacations that were tested and true. With this in mind, we thought it would be a great business to share our personal knowledge of these vacations to others and Specialty Vacations was born.
